Good night last night, had some time off to have a beer with my good friend Flanagan. Did do bit of magic in a few pubs for people, tried out a few new routines.

Anyway gearing up for a big weekend of Weddings 6 over the weekend starting tomorrow. Will be in Thornbury for the first one, used to play some rugby down that way as a wee lad!

Tis Porters speaking from the land of Ham.

Had an enjoyable day last Saturday, first up was a trip to Windsor for Jacky’s 40th celebrations. I like Windsor, always seems to be something going on and people everywhere, good vibe. However parking I find always a problem, I can’t seem to find anywhere that doesn’t charge a fortune for an hour! Hey ho answers on a postcard please.

Anyway it was a fun hour with Jacky’s guests, all ages with casiono tables old style gaming machines etc, very warm too!

Then it was foot down to get to Newbury for Cheryll’s and Stephen’s Wedding celebrations. Worked well actually as I could entertain while everyone had tea and coffee and then mingled around other rooms while the disco was going on. Had some good feedback on my Magic Entertainment Facebook page, cheers for that.

Anyway must get some fitness done.

Great day, sunny at last, love it! Fab five days of magic from Thursday last week. Watched Coldplays set at T in the park, fab, new songs are sounding great when’s the new album out?

Really lovely outside private party at the Wilson’s on Sunday, some amazing people there. Without naming names a well known conductor, a great Himalayan climber a professional violinist but unfortunately not Al Murry who didn’t make it. Shame would have been good to have a bit of banter with the pub landlord!

Great last night even though I’ve seemed to have injured my neck lifting weights! Was at Gorse Hill Wedding fair, not too busy but enough couples to entertain and have good chats with about their Weddings. Also met and performed for the staff who were all good fun. Managed to get around some of the other stands and met the O_PUR cosmetic team, lovely products if your interested! Made me feel so much younger! Here’s the link www.opurcosmetics.com . Had so much fun at Chris Harrison’s Mid Summer Party. Chris throws this fantastic drinks and nibbles party every year and it always seems to be sunny. There is always the regular crew but the numbers seem to grow each year with new guests coming along. It’s always a great atmosphere and lot’s of fun strolling around and performing my close up set. Thanks to all those who attended and for emailing me with some very kind words. My fav would have to be.

Right entertained local business’s at the Regency Park Hotel near the end of June. Great party with a Wimbledon theme, got to perform some mix and mingle and also table magic. What a great week, I love this week in the calender. Wimbledon, Glastonbury etc etc. Won’t be going to Glastonbury but will be watching on the interactive after gigs for sure!

Had a really fun gig on Saturday night at Middle Temple Hall, not far from the Embankment in London. Really amazing venue http://www.middletemplehall.org.uk/ and a fun event.

Three hours of magic alongside Jugglers and stilt walkers and the band. Thanks to everyone I met and I hope the rest of the night went well.

Good fun gig last night.

Bit of mix and mingling around the bar with drinks, only around 35 guests but all good fun from the IT company Oracle.

Found out that they have or are developing something called the Java card that can do lots of amazing things(over my head I’m afraid) but worked this into a card routine that went down well. Many thanks to all who I met last night. Also I hope Simon performs his mind power routine at the seminar today!

Off to London tomorrow for the Middle Temple Ball, looking forward to it, hope the rain stops though!

Hope all’s well. Visited a really cracking venue in the Cotswolds yesterday, The Rectory Hotel.

I was shown around by Gemma Smith the Wedding and Events co-ordinator and really liked the look and feel of it. A fantastic venue for a Wedding, with really lovely gardens.

I hear the food is amazing as well which is never easy when catering for so many.

Lovely day today, great for a bike ride this morning.

Had a couple of day’s down at the beach last week, did some filming of new routines which was fun, but windy!. Putting together a cool showreel, something a bit different. When will it be finished? Who knows!

Hi all, lovely day again amazing bike ride this morning, up and down dale, trying to do 200 miles a week got to burn off the beer!

Anyway great news and a big thanks to all those couples who’ve booked me for their Weddings this year, I’ve heard the big 70 target that I was hoping for this year.  I’ve really enjoyed the ones I’ve performed at so far and I’m really looking forward to the rest of the year.

Really sorry for lack of posts, it has just been such a busy time of late. I’m spent after a very long run of Weddings and private parties. So much to say but I will break it down over a series of posts.

The last 4 days have been amazing, although I didn’t get an invite to perform at the Royal Wedding I enjoyed working a two others who had booked a long time ago and were all very excited to be sharing the day with Kate and William. It also meant all their guests didn’t have to take the day off work which was lucky!

So thank you to all the guests I performed for at both Weddings everyone was so much fun, I even managed to get back to my local to raise a glass or two, it was a proud day to be British me thinks.

Anyway have to get outside on the bike.

Vodafone Charity gig Wednesday, X factor singer was performing (didn’t recognise her!)

Wedding Open evening Thursday night, lots of lovely couples and performed some new routines, went well.

Friday two Weddings, lots of fun

Saturday, one Wedding and a 50th party at the lovely Crab at Chievely, great food if anyone is interested especially if you like fish!

Sunday, the lovely Templars Barn Wedding open Day, great to meet up with fellow stand holders and hopefully some more Weddings to attend.

Sunday night, Charton House hotel in Shepton Mallet, stayed in Duncan’s Den (one of the dragon’s) Great food and enjoyable floatation treatment.

Monday back home for a well earned beer!

Hope all is well with everyone. Amazing day today, feel the sunshine! Got the surfboard waxed and the road bike serviced so want to be outside lots this spring/summer.

Really pleased with my Wedding bookings this year I’m up to 66, would love to hit 70 so if you’d like me to attend a future Wedding do let me know. News just in I have a slot available on the 22nd of July and also the 1st of July.

Been taking advantage of the sunshine of late and been working on some really cool routines. I’ve named one which I really like “Unique” ask me to perform when you see me and I hand you the cards!

Hi all, nothing like a good practise outside, that’s what I’ve been up to at the start of this week.

Enjoyed a really good gig on Saturday night, it was after the rugby so I needed something to lift my mood!

Anyway really nice venue called the Archangel in Frome. Bit of a funny story getting there, for some reason my google maps took me through some very tight roads and then over a small bridge which required a toll. It was 60p but I had no cash on me what so ever. Even after a desperate plea the man wasn’t shifting, until I found under the seat a 10 euro note, I offered it up and he took it swiftly saying that he would give me change the next time I saw him!!! So I basically paid more to get over a tiny hump in the road than I would a trip to Wales!

Anyway got to the gig and everyone had made a great effort for Hayley’s 40th, it was a masked theme, some fab outfits. So I performed close up magic for everyone and made my way home at around 11.45. Lovely stuff!

Weddings, Corporate events, private parties

Wow what a busy month!

Can’t believe how quickly the year is going! Been enjoying performing at various Wedding fairs and meeting a lot of excited couples to be!

I’m not far off my target of 75 this year so that’s really pleasing, it’s getting tough now with very few gaps.

Had a really enjoyable charity event the other night in the village next to mine. It was in aid of blood cancer hosted in a barn that looked simply amazing.

I had to perform table magic over several hours, everyone were great sports and it was fun to meet and perform also for Neil and Christine Hamilton.

Until the next time, come on England in the Grand Slam match, I can watch it but am then out for a private party gig so won’t be able to celebrate or otherwise until I get back at 12.30!

Hi All

Really sorry for not updating for a while. Been an interesting time, I chipped a bone and damaged my ligaments whilst out running so was off my feet for a bit. However the good news is I’m walking without a limp now which is fab and the sun is out!

Can’t wait for the summer and plenty of surfing this year, got to get ready for some Portugal surf in September.

Wedding bookings are flying in which is great. I think I’m up to 62 now which is really pleasing. Got to start filling up Christmas now!

Oh yes and just putting together the finishing touches to my new routine some really fun stuff.

Hi, quite an ironic title as I’m enjoying a Monday morning without cards in my hands. Really busy week last week at all sorts of venues and events doing the old close up stuff!

Good to see Michelle and Russell again on Saturday at their Wedding. It seems ages ago when I performed at their engagement party and Saturday was the real thing! Congrats to you both!

Bookings are coming in thick and fast which is great. I’m up to 60 Weddings for this year and have just ordered a 2012 planner as that’s getting going too! So if you’re thinking of booking it seems that securing the date early is advisable.

Good to meet so many fun people over the weekend, hi to all I met.

Also very exciting news for me. As some of you know I enjoy a surf when I have time to get to the beach. So I like to drive a van annnnndddd I got my new one on Friday so me and me board can get away in style now for some bonding sessions!!

Hi great people of the world

Porters here with some mumblings for you. Had a great weekend. Although really quite long what with everything.

Went to the rugby on Saturday with family and friends and it was amazing, the only shame for me was I had to leave with two minutes to go to attend two gigs. I did get to see the last Ashton try though!

With a slightly strained voice it was great to perform my Close Up Magic at Trunkwell for Stephanie’s brilliantly organised charity ball for cancer. The venue looked great and there was a great turn out. Shame I could only perform for an hour and a half as I had to dash off to Hungerford for a gig with the Twinning society which was also great fun. Table magic and lots of laughs. Which meant that I got to enjoy my Indian about 3 hours after everyone else. However it was quite something tucking into my murgi green masala with nan and cold beer watching the hi-lights.

However when the alarm rang on Sunday it was back out to a Wedding fair and game face on. Ahh the joys of being a full time magi! Love it.

I’m actually feeling quite lucky tonight to not be working as there’s a certain rugby match on tonight which I’m rather excited about!! So a few beers and hopefully the right result! Come on boys!!

Hi all

Been one big blur life at the moment. So much to do and the days seem to be going too quickly for my liking.

Along with some private parties and Weddings had a really great time at the weekend on a hypnosis course for magicians. Really interesting stuff, amazing what can be done.

After intense training in the day we hit brick lane in the evening and worked our magic/hypnosis on willing volunteers. Something I’m going to be doing more of in the future. Annoyingly I’m not a great subject as it can be an empowering feeling for those hypnotised, also it would be good to be able to self hypnotise so I’m going to have to have words with my unconscious mind!

Busy busy here chippers.

January has been good on the work front considering it is January and we normally hide in doors and try to lose weight!

Been a real mixture of 18th Birthday parties to Weddings to corporate Christmas parties. Had lots of fun and am now continuing to try to perform at 75 Weddings. The running total is now 53. I will performing at a few Wedding fairs in the next month so hope to see people out there.

Also really looking forward to the hypnosis course at the Weekend should be interesting.

Happy New year fellow fellows!

Whats up? Really knackered after a long December of gigs. Finished off yesterday with a Wedding in the day and a black tie event in Ascot. Managed to get back in time for a pint or two to see in the New Year.

Now, December is normally a full on rush with work but this weather we’re having is making things a tad more difficult than normal. Things have been cancelled, numbers reduced and travelling time increased massively! Hey ho, I’m nearly done now for a few days and then plenty of grog shall pass one’s lips!

Anyway I have enjoyed all the gigs this year it really has felt like Christmas, unlike the Coldplay song which says otherwise (do like the song though, wish that had made no. 1 not mr x factor). Been up to all sorts really, Corporate events, private parties, Weddings, you name it. Plenty of lovely feedback on the testimonial page if you’re interested.

Hi brilliant people

Gosh (old fashioned phrase to start with) what a busy time, tis always the same at this time of year. Lot’s of Crimbo parties, but not sick of the music yet! What do we think of coldplays Christmas effort? Snowed this morning on my run which was really nice.

Had a great weekend last week. After the terrible journey on Thursday to Surrey things were easier on Friday up in Ascot. After performing at Sarah and Jame’s Wedding I was invited to perform at Jame’s company bash. Lots of mix and mingle and table magic, all good fun and was tested to the full! On Saturday I attended a really good party in Thatcham for Anita and Geoff, a joint birthday bash. Really enjoyed drifting from room to room with a mixture of magic and mentalism. Check out some really good feedback on the testimonial page.

Anyway must get on, just to say I’m very close to perfecting my new flourish which I will post on my Magic Entertainment Facebook page when done! I’m aiming before Christmas Day.

Close up magic, Wedding magic etc etc!!!

Morning all, just!

Big corporate gig in Ascot last night, good fun, thanks to James and Sarah. I performed at their Wedding three weeks ago and was invited to Jame’s work Christmas party and it was a good night. I had some tough characters putting me under heavy surveillance which is always exciting. Was in a tight spot at one stage but managed to pull their card out of the candle flame which turned things around! Bit of a shame to have to go as I would have liked to have seen the band, they were a kings of leon cover band but quite famous in their own right and they looked like them too!

Anyway knackered today as watched the first session of cricket last night! Go the Cook man, how many more minutes in the middle!

Anyway unbelievable day yesterday. Had a corporate lunch gig in Surrey, however that is only half the story. If you live in that area you know the snow you’ve had recently. I got 7 minutes from the venue and then the snow really started to show it’s teeth. Skids, spins down hills, cars stranded. You name it things weren’t great. So 2 hours later and I just get to the hotel. At this stage let’s say I’m a little off colour and I have wet feet!

Still as it turns out the corporate number was down to 50 from 120 and they were late also. So, managed to get around all the tables and it was really the perfect Christmas picture looking outside at 3 feet of snow with last Christmas thru the speakers. Also had my first Turkey dinner of the season!

Off to Ascot tonight for more of the same, I pray for a better journey!

Morning all, woke up to snow this morning, nothing major but it looks good and will be nice to run in.

Twas very tired yesterday after a busy weekend of close up magic work.

Had a really fun corporate event on Friday night at Elcot Park Hotel near Newbury. Everyone was really in the Crimbo mood and the place looked good. It was a lot of mix and mingle and also some table magic. After about 3 and a half hours and nearly 300 people there wasn’t much of a voice left!

Bit gutted at the rugby score but the cricket made up for it!

Also many thanks to all the people I met at the Wedding Open Day on Sunday and thank you for the bookings.

Go and make a snowman then!

Morning all,

My attempts at getting up and watching some live ashes back fired as rain stopped play, plus it was too cold to practise!

Anyway, lovely run in the sun and know back to the grind.

Still working on a bloody difficult card cut at the moment which looks good when done right!

Have a big weekend coming up, a big corporate gig tonight which is local to me which is good. A 3 hour session so no doubt the voice will be tired by the end of it.

Then a Wedding and also a fair at the weekend.

Should be good.

Been an interesting week this week.

Firstly great for running first thing in the morning, lovely clear cold conditions which I find leaves a warm glow on your face for the rest of the day!

Had a really fun corporate gig on Tuesday night. Only 17 guests but all great fun. I did some close up stuff for pre dinner drinks and then around a lovely long table I performed some mentalism which along with the roaring fires and dim lighting was the perfect environment.

Wednesday was a meeting with a magician friend where we talked hynotism amonsgt other stuff which was interesting.

Then finally the cricket, boo hiss, however I thought a lot of our batsmen looked pretty good, so encouraging signs going forward.

Anyway big Christmas corporate event on Friday night, three hours of close up and table hopping. Me thinks a beer well be required at the end of it!

Hi people

Hope all is well, I’m typing but my hands don’t seem to be attached to my body/brain! Strange feeling!

Anyway had fun weekend. Was at a Wedding in Mayfair, well the church was there and then we went on some old fashion red buses to one marylebone a really cool venue http://www.onemarylebone.com.

Great food and drink and lot’s of lovely people. Got talking to Tony a sky sports presenter about NLP, hynotism and close up magic, good bloke.

Anyway onwards we must march, busy week of gigs coming up the Christmas rush has started!

Had a good nights practise last night, funny how sometimes you just get on a roll. Anyway lovely morning this morning so took advantage of the conditions and went for a 10k run. Been training even harder this week after the brilliant England victory over the Aussies! At a Wedding in Mayfair tomorrow very posh, should be good.

Hope all is well with everyone, let’s be kind to everyone we see/meet today. It makes you feel good!

Anyway I’m off to continue work on my new routines, then me thinks a quick trip to the gym to make way for a few pints and a curry, first Friday night off for ages!

How you going? Good I hope, not getting much done yet today, apart from downloading a new nike app called boom. Had visitors and now catching up on some practise. Starting to finalise a really flourishy cut. I will post the video on my Magic Entertainment Facebook page when complete.

Things are going well at Magic Entertainment. I’m please to announce my best year yet for Weddings. To date I’ve managed 65 Weddings this year which is great. Thank you to all those who booked me this year. I’m going for my record next year, I’m up to 47  for 2011 so if your thinking of getting married and you’d like to hire me please drop me an email. In fact I’m worried that Prince William and Kate have left things a bit late regarding organising stuff! I would hate to be double booked! Everythings soooo exciting don’t you think.

Ahhhhh, hello to you all

Gosh what a fab weekend, really fun Weddings where I performed close up magic and a bit of mentalism thrown in too! Thanks to James and Sarah and all their guests who were just fab. The Wedding was at Taplow House Hotel http://www.taplowhouse.com/ really good venue.

Also congrats to Lucy and Paul on their Wedding, met lots of fun people and it’s always good to hear lots of screams and shouts!

Hi all

Just a quick catch up. Enjoyed performing at a 60th on Saturday, lovely people and lots of fun was had! Thanks to everyone! I also managed to get back and watch the England New Zealand game with out finding out the result. Good effort I thought, about the right result but the white wave is coming!

Attended a Wedding Open day at the Complete Angler on Sunday which was really successful. Lots of good couples and also enjoyed performing for the staff on the day. A really good hotel.

I have to practise so off I go, oh by the way off to Berlin on Wednesday night and going to perform there which should be interesting!

Hi there all you good people!

Gosh what a period it’s been! Along with the busiest Wedding season of all time, I think I’m one away from 60 this year. Plus a mini break and the start of the Wedding fair season you may be wondering what happened to the site. Well I had real technical issues with it which in the process of sorting them out meant I lost a lot of data. This has meant the site has been down and I had to start from scratch which was a right pain! So as you may see some pages have got to be completed as they were before. All the main pages are back though and I will do my best over the coming weeks to get every page sorted! Hey ho!

Anyway all sorts of things have been going on, Wedding tv, Corporate gigs and many other stories. I shall get blogging daily to keep you up to speed.
